Connect your blog
Connecting your blog is the one step that makes everything else work. Here's how to do it, and what you get once it's done.
When your blog is connected, Food Blog Studio brings in every post, recipe card, and category, and keeps them up to date on its own. It's the most important part of setup.
Connect your WordPress blog
- Click Personalization in the sidebar. On the Your blog card, click Connect.
- Open your blog's home page in another tab and copy the address from your browser's address bar, for example
https://yourblog.com. - Paste your blog's address, tick I own this blog and authorize Food Blog Studio to read its public posts., then click Connect my blog.
- Keep the tab open while it imports. A window shows each step as it goes. You can click Hide to shrink it, but don't close the tab until it finishes.
Tip
Paste your home page address, not the address of a post.
The Importing your blog window
It shows for your first import, for Refresh all recipe cards, and for a sync with more than 25 posts to download. Four steps check off in order: Loading your blog posts, Loading your recipe cards, Checking internal links, and Getting your personalization ready. Click Hide to shrink it. Your browser does the reading, so keep the tab open until it finishes.
What connecting your blog gives you
- Internal links. Blog Writer and Internal Linking link to your real posts and categories.
- @ mentions in any chat. Type @ in the message box, pick one of your posts, and the writer gets its recipe card. No more copying and pasting recipes. See @ mention your posts.
- Focus Finder and the other tools that need to know your blog.
Recipe cards come from WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes, and Create by Mediavine.
Your posts stay private
Your browser does the reading, straight from your WordPress blog. Your post text and recipe cards are never shared with other members.
Limits
- Up to 6,000 posts per account.
- Post text up to 60,000 characters and recipe cards up to 20,000. Anything longer is cut off there.
- Password-protected and private posts are skipped.
Not on WordPress, or it won't connect?
If Food Blog Studio can't read WordPress, it looks for your sitemap instead. You can also click Not on WordPress? Use your sitemap instead on the Your blog card. Internal links work from your sitemap. Recipe cards and @ mentions need the WordPress connection. See My blog won't connect and Use your sitemap instead.
